Yes.
I was just testing that if I am be set ip(dhcp) thrpugh uefi shell, as the same will be happening during uefi pxe boot as in uefi pxe boot uefi network stack is used(dhcp, ifconfig, mtftp).

So, in my case I am not able to configure ip through uefi shell itself, so uefi pxe boot will also fail.

Why do you think that? Do you mean the OS Loader that has been booted will fail? A PXE boot of the EFI image requires zero configuration. The DHCP ext tags from the PXE server provide the client with all the need configuration information needed to boot. The PXE server can also match the client GUID/UUID and serve a specific boot image to that client. The only configuration in all of this is on the PXE server side.

The PXE boot and manual config are different paths.

Thanks,

Andrew Fish

Thats why I trying to find if there is any issue with network card uefi driver or with uefi network stack.

Thanks,
Ritul

Hi,

I am facing problem in configuring ip through uefi shell. (main purpose is to do uefi pxe boot on rhel6.5 pxe server)

You dont need to configure an ip to PXE boot?

When you PXE boot there are DHCP requests that get made that are returned by the PXE sever that tell you where to boot from. No config is required on the EFI side. If the PXE boot does not work it is like an issue with the config of the PXE server.

First I tried to configure ip (dhcp) from uefi shell, which is giving attached logs on dhcp sever, IP is not configured.

Using command:

Shell>Ifconfig s eth5 dhcp
After this, it doesnt get ip.

And
I configured IP on the same server which is running rhel (rhel6.5 OS netwotk stack), this means there is no issue in dhcp server setup.
How can I find out if issue is with uefi network stack or network card uefi driver? as network card legacy driver works fine.

Ritul
